Sulphur-crested cockatoos never cease to amuse me. They’re always so curious and loud, not to mention the fact that they have such permanently stunned expressions.
Rocky simply loves attention. As I was trying to take notes on the lounge, she flew over to me and Natasha subsequently took this shot.
Typography surrounds us—yet so many people ignore it. By paying better attention to type, how can we better appreciate its influence on us and how we communicate? Listen to ‘20. What’s Your Type’ on Lounge Ruminator. 🎙
Sleepy home-office buddy
As I push further into home-office life, I’ve decided to adopt a hybrid approach to dressing up for work. On the one hand, I dial things up to ‘semi-fancy’ with my Apple Watch leather loop; on the other, I keep myself grounded by wearing my daggy Australian ski resort trackie dacks from over a decade ago. 🧐⛷
There’s a little family of mushrooms growing on the footpath outside. I’m sure that they’re not fit to eat but they do look remarkably like the ones that we buy from our local grocer.
It’s @NTKF’s birthday this week! To celebrate, she joined me on the Lounge Ruminator podcast for episode 19: Dis, Dat, All of the Above. It only seemed right to discuss her favourite topic: cake. 🎙🍰😍
The world has indeed gone a bit mad. Read more in Rumination 66: An Essential Roll on Lounge Ruminator.
Just as I put up my post about the rainbow lorikeet and guinea pigs outside, my mum sent me this photo of herself feeding some king parrots on the balcony at home. It seems that our bird lives are in sync!
This is the time to really support local businesses. I didn’t need much convincing by @NTKF to order a jambalaya.
Rocky really loves standing next to our kettle; it’s something about silver products and reflective surfaces, I think. She used to be obsessed with standing in front of an old toaster, looking at her reflection in the shiny finish.
I may not have a home-office arrangement for work but at least I can set things up nicely and the way that I like it for uni stuff! I’m really looking forward to the full-on cursor support next week; the accessibility feature is good but it will be a nice software update.
In this week’s episode of Lounge Ruminator, 16. Silence and Sound, I discuss the effect of silence in film and comedy and the lasting effects of ‘iPod culture’ on how we listen. 🎙
Sleepy bird
This is either a massive bird or a tiny leg… it’s up to you! 🦵🏽🐦
In my latest episode of Lounge Ruminator, Remoteness and Openness, I discuss the value of remote work and flexibility, plus the enduring power of RSS as an open, approachable way of consuming news. 🎙
Startled by Rogue and Rio flapping suddenly around the house, Rocky took off in a panic and then needed somewhere quick to land. @NTKF snapped the chosen landing spot. 😂
Whether we like it or not, social media often seduce us into a world of illusion. Sometimes, however, we receive an amusing behind-the-scenes look. Read more in Rumination 65: Gyros Distortion Field on Lounge Ruminator.
I work with a funny IT guy who absolutely loathes Apple but he was generous enough to give me these stickers that he found in the office, which he had originally intended to throw out.
February Photoblogging Challenge Day 30: You may feel the need to adjust your vision after seeing this but it’s true: what you see here is the leftovers from a Greek family lunch. 📷
February Photoblogging Challenge Day 29: My sister-in-law and her (now) husband chose 29 February as their wedding day—taking full advantage of the leap year! I suppose this means that they’ll get to have an official anniversary every four years. 📷🗓
February Photoblogging Challenge Day 28: I recently had to record some footage at the slab-making department (near where I work). Here’s a frame from some of that footage, with a hot steel slab below the deck where I was standing. 📷
February Photoblogging Challenge Day 27: Rocky and I love hanging out together. 📷
In Rage against the Video on Lounge Ruminator, I consider the effect that music videos have on the listening experience. 🎙
