I may not have a home-office arrangement for work but at least I can set things up nicely and the way that I like it for uni stuff! I’m really looking forward to the full-on cursor support next week; the accessibility feature is good but it will be a nice software update.

In this week’s episode of Lounge Ruminator, 16. Silence and Sound, I discuss the effect of silence in film and comedy and the lasting effects of ‘iPod culture’ on how we listen. 🎙

Sleepy bird

This is either a massive bird or a tiny leg… it’s up to you! 🦵🏽🐦

In my latest episode of Lounge Ruminator, Remoteness and Openness, I discuss the value of remote work and flexibility, plus the enduring power of RSS as an open, approachable way of consuming news. 🎙

Startled by Rogue and Rio flapping suddenly around the house, Rocky took off in a panic and then needed somewhere quick to land. @NTKF snapped the chosen landing spot. 😂

Whether we like it or not, social media often seduce us into a world of illusion. Sometimes, however, we receive an amusing behind-the-scenes look. Read more in Rumination 65: Gyros Distortion Field on Lounge Ruminator.

I work with a funny IT guy who absolutely loathes Apple but he was generous enough to give me these stickers that he found in the office, which he had originally intended to throw out.

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 30: You may feel the need to adjust your vision after seeing this but it’s true: what you see here is the leftovers from a Greek family lunch. 📷

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 29: My sister-in-law and her (now) husband chose 29 February as their wedding day—taking full advantage of the leap year! I suppose this means that they’ll get to have an official anniversary every four years. 📷🗓

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 28: I recently had to record some footage at the slab-making department (near where I work). Here’s a frame from some of that footage, with a hot steel slab below the deck where I was standing. 📷

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 27: Rocky and I love hanging out together. 📷

In Rage against the Video on Lounge Ruminator, I consider the effect that music videos have on the listening experience. 🎙

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 26: There truly is no escape from birds at the moment. In addition to Rogue and Rio, we now have Rocky (left) and Pepe (right), who are staying while my parents-in-law do a big tidy-up at their house. Lovely sounds! 🐤❤️

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 25: It may look like Paco and Coco are trying to overcome the hurdle of this tub to escape but in actual fact, guinea pigs just enjoy shoving their faces into corners. 📷

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 24: double trouble 📷 ❤️ 🐤 🐤

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 23: Waiting at Central Station in Sydney used to take up a lot of time in my life; I’m glad to have left commuting behind. This shot is from that special period in 2015. 📷 🚈

Collecting is a very human thing to do… but why do we do it? In Why Do We Collect? on Lounge Ruminator, I reconsider the habit of accumulation. 🎙

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 22: This piece of horrid Australiana is the worst kind of spectacle. 📷 🦘 🇦🇺

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 21: My bedside table is a sign of tech progress over time and an inability to let go. Next to that iPod Hi-Fi is an iPhone 5 dock that still fits my larger 11 Pro perfectly. 📷 😀

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 20: Here’s a controversial statement that is intended to deliberately annoy the likes of @liss. Celsius is the correct scale. 😂🌡🌏

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 18: Although I generally oppose any attempt to compare Seinfeld and Friends (the former is superior) this display on our bookshelf invites precisely that. 📷

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 17: Uncle Budge was the finest gentleman budgie ever to live… never one to lose his cool. 📷

February Photoblogging Challenge Day 16: Like many iOS nerds, I’m always trying to optimise my Home screen. I’m back to a minimalistic layout with Cradle Mountain, which I’m really enjoying. That folder that you see down the bottom is a container for what I call ‘The Rest’. 📷📱
