The wonderful @NTKF organised a surprise early-birthday event with my mum and sister, which included peach-picking in Darkes Forest, a bushwalk through Dharawal National Park and lunch at Sublime Point overlooking Wollongong. The best! 😍

We spent the last morning of 2020 with a nice walk along Wollongong’s Blue Mile, including the harbour and old tramway past the rock-pools.

Peering between two stone walls over the water of the harbour, with the shore and buildings in the distance and a clouds overheadRockpools in the foreground and beaches and the mountain escarpment stretching into the distance

Today @NTKF and I had a lovely visit to Wollongong Art Gallery. Among works on Aboriginal history, our migrant industry and ‘invisible’ disability, a wonderful exhibition called Just Not Australian shows our troubled past and the ongoing tension of what it means to be Australian.

Day 8: Most people think that Vegemite is the food that binds Australia; in fact, it’s the food that divides the nation. In this week’s episode of Lounge Ruminator (prompted by @canion), I discuss the controversial spread. #mbnov

Day 7: Reports from the press about how much food I ate at the local German club tonight are grossly inflated. #mbnov

Nov 2020

Day 6: Some people may find my devotion to Vegemite to be puzzling; I firmly believe that it’s better without butter. That being said, it tastes great with avocado. For more Australian strangeness, check out my podcast with @burk and @canion. #mbnov
