Magpies are gorgeous birds but the real, non-painted ones will occasionally try to kill you.
I do love the memories feature in the iOS Photos app; it just revealed this shot that I took amongst the crowd at The Cat Empire’s performance at Stuart Park, Wollongong back in 2017. What a sky!
Hazy evening walk
Update: I have figured out the very limit of my toaster’s toasting capability, so that I can get it as close to burnt as possible without actually being burnt. Super-crispy + Vegemite = joy ☺️
A wonderful night with @NTKF at the Gala Cinema to see The People Upstairs—it’s a very quirky and enjoyable film! It was good to test dark mode once others had left too.
If you haven’t listened to @HemisphericViews, now’s either the best or worst time to start. This time I suggested we go into it without prepared show notes. The result was 021: Ad Lib!. @Burk discusses Mars, @canion covers neckties and I chat about peanuts. Listen if you dare! 🎙
In episode 61 of Lounge Ruminator, my long-time friend (and former drama teacher and boss), Fiona Finley, joins the podcast to explain her background in theatre, the value of the arts and why performance is great for kids. Have a listen! 🎙
Inspired by this tweet by @canion, I have the Kramer-esque ‘Fusilli Mac Martin’ from @NTKF, a fifth-anniversary pin from @relayfm, a Tweety PEZ dispenser (also à la Seinfeld) and a @HemisphericViews plaque. What a collection! 😜
Looking for something to listen to this weekend? In Contemplating Telepresence on Lounge Ruminator, fellow Hemispheric Views co-host @Burk joins me to discuss hobbies, the ever-changing world of online work and education and the effects of open offices and commuting.
Always smiling!
In ‘Playing to the Audience with Evan Kerr’ on Lounge Ruminator, my long-time friend joins the podcast to discuss his experience as a pianist and music teacher. He also shares his thoughts on how digital technology has been transforming performance and education. 🎙
A beautiful morning at the Continental Pools
Sunset and pelicans along the Blue Mile
The wonderful @NTKF organised a surprise early-birthday event with my mum and sister, which included peach-picking in Darkes Forest, a bushwalk through Dharawal National Park and lunch at Sublime Point overlooking Wollongong. The best! 😍
Earlier today, @NTKF took this photo of little Rocky falling asleep on my leg. She’s a cutie bird!
Overlooking Port Kembla Beach from the saltwater Olympic pool… I’ve always loved this place! @NTKF and I made sure to visit this week, as no summer is complete without it.
For the first episode of Lounge Ruminator in 2021, @NTKF joins me to reflect on our recent visit to one of Australia’s most bizarre, niche theme parks, Granties Maze, plus other spots like Tasmazia. Listen on the Web, Apple Podcasts or Overcast. 🎙
A gorgeous afternoon at Shellharbour Village yesterday
Old gum at Audley
The Tasman Sea and Wollongong Harbour from Cliff Road
The Tasman Sea and Wollongong Harbour along with the city’s two lighthouses, continental pools and rock-pools (viewed from Cliff Road)
We spent the last morning of 2020 with a nice walk along Wollongong’s Blue Mile, including the harbour and old tramway past the rock-pools.
Today @NTKF and I had a lovely visit to Wollongong Art Gallery. Among works on Aboriginal history, our migrant industry and ‘invisible’ disability, a wonderful exhibition called Just Not Australian shows our troubled past and the ongoing tension of what it means to be Australian.
Happy holidays from Stumpy the visiting King Parrot! (seen here being fed by my mum)
