Being a marketing communications person in a human resources department is a very interesting experience. It’s like speaking two different languages; in fact, it’s like two different planets.

Is it just me or is ‘dumpster fire’ one of the most overused, melodramatic terms on American tech podcasts and videos? It’s uttered frequently about iTunes in particular, when most users couldn’t care less about issues in the blogosphere. Sure, it’s a heavy app but it’s not a ‘dumpster fire’.

M.G. Siegler’s points about the need for a smaller iPhone are spot-on and I felt the need to chime in on Lounge Ruminator.

Although I’m not a fan of Australia Day at all, I am very much looking forward to the long weekend.

Wear OS apparently isn’t in the best place right now. I shared some thoughts based on a recent article by Are Technica. Of course, the word ‘doomed’ was used, which is a journo favourite. Read more on Lounge Ruminator.

I work in marketing but something that annoys me about the field is its overuse of the word ‘essential’. Everything’s apparently essential these days and the App Store is often guilty of this. I can’t see how anything that involves Pikachu could possibly be as essential as water, food or oxygen. FE1D33DB-10AD-4C11-8099-FF7CEF0C5FBE.jpg

For some time, Natasha has been concerned that late-night activity reminders on Apple Watch can be dangerous. ‘Why on Earth would it suggest for me to go for a walk so late at night?!’ She asserts that a safer (possibly indoor) alternative should be suggested instead.

I’m very jealous. Whilst I’ve been at work today, my wife Natasha (who still has holidays) has been spending lots of time with our guinea pigs. Here is Paco happily being fed corn by the spoonful.

We had some beautiful rainbow lorrikeets visit us this morning. Our two budgies, Rogue and Rio, were only too happy to chat with them through the flyscreen.

The Handmaid’s Tale is an excellent show but who on Earth would buy a calendar that’s based the show?

Jan 2019

I just finished seeing Toto live in Sydney and it was one of the most excessive, hilarious and brilliant concerts that I’ve ever seen. It was like being transported back in time inside a radioactive keyboard demo track.

This is the second New Year’s Day in a row that I’ve had to kill a huntsman spider early in the morning. Last year was in my car; this year was in my bedroom. (Shudder…)
