Due to a ārecallā on the rental car that we were supposed to receive this morning, we were given a free upgrade by Hertz. Iām not complaining.

I will always remember Los Angeles as the city where, no matter what time of day it was and no matter which way you were facing, the Sun was always in your eyes. āļø
Since arriving in the US, the most amusing thing that Iāve experienced is seeing the looks on peopleās faces (in service situations) when I have to provide my first name. Iāve had to resort to pronouncing it in an American accent in order to be understood. š
We sit down at a 24-hour restaurant in West Hollywood called Kitchen 24 and Semisonicās Closing Time starts to play.
We had a very close call in the Cretaceous Period today.

Itās very smart and strategic of Starbucks to hide the short option from its menu to encourage everyone to order a larger size. All that @NTKF and I ever want is a flat white (in what is a normal Australian size) but we get puzzled looks from staff when requesting the short cup.
Although Iām not a religious person, seeing this first printed example of Gutenbergās movable type at the Library of Congress is a serious highlight of my travels.

My favourite food stop so far in the US has been Letās Mix! BiBiJa!. They make absolutely delicious Korean bibimbap and Vietnamese pho and theyāre super-polite.
The American insistence on referring to them as ārestroomsā rather than āpublic toiletsā is hilarious to me; when their toilets end up flushing automatically by surprise when youāre still using them, thatās anything but a restful experience. š

We met some cute hamster friends at a pet shop in Flatiron today!
I just had a pancake stack for breakfast at a New York diner. Iād say that a large stack in Australia would include three pancakes; this stack included five, not to mention the coffee whose smallest option was a jumbo mug. If I donāt survive, it has been great knowing all of you.
